ZINGO has managed to mobilize men, women and traditional/religious leaders in Nyimba, Mazabuka and Lusaka to address stigma and discrimination and vulnerabilities among women that expose them to Gender Based Violence (GBV). The GBV project which has a pronged approach aims at empowering women with knowledge, skills and economic strengthening so that they are better placed to face domestic violence; works with men as equal partners to women in eliminating GBV; and uses the authority of religious and traditional leaders to advocate against GBV within their places of worship and traditional authorities. At the community level, partnerships have been created with a number of stakeholders to ensure legal and social protection, support and care for victims of GBV.
In ensuring that more PLHIV access care and support that will enable them live quality and improved lives, ZINGO through its partners has intensified provision of home-based care services and strengthened its referral system to ensure that PLHIV receive a continuum of care and support services.
As part of a broader economic strengthening initiative aimed at improving people’s livelihoods, ZINGO has been providing the target populations with follow-on economic empowering skills beyond the group savings and loans. These skills include Generate Your Business Idea (GYBI), aimed at giving the beneficiaries basic skills and orientation to enable GSLA members (40 GSLA members were trained) make meaningful decisions about business selection; Household Production Guidelines (HPG) to help targeted beneficiaries value assets that are surrounding them and transform them into productive ventures.
